Eagle Rare 101 Proof 10 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon (1981 Release)
Description
101 proof. 10 years. 1981 Release. Eagle Rare — a founding-era Eagle Rare from the Old Prentice Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, now over 45 years from original bottling and one of three founding-era Eagle Rare expressions in the Wooden Cork collection alongside the 1978 Quart and the 1982 Release.
Eagle Rare was created in 1975 at the Old Prentice Distillery (later known as the Four Roses Distillery under Seagram ownership) in Lawrenceburg. The 1970s and early 1980s represent the founding era of the brand — before Buffalo Trace acquired the label and moved production to Frankfort. The 1981 Release is mid-run in the founding production era, documenting Eagle Rare as it existed at a time when the brand was a premium aged bourbon rather than the BTAC-adjacent allocated collector focus it has since become.
