Description

The Midleton Very Rare Vintage 2006 is a single-vintage expression from Ireland’s most prestigious annual whiskey release, produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork since 1984. Each Midleton Very Rare release is a blend of exceptionally aged pot still and grain whiskeys personally selected by the Master Distiller in strictly limited quantities.

Initial aromas of toasted wood bring strong roasted coffee notes and rich waves of sweet vanilla and honeycomb with mild fruity undertones. The pot still character — that distinctive creamy, spicy, and oily texture unique to Irish pot still whiskey — develops fully with extended aging. A bottle for the serious Irish whiskey collector.

Tasting Notes

Rich golden amber. The nose delivers toasted wood, roasted coffee, sweet vanilla, and honeycomb with mild fruity undertones. The palate is creamy and full-bodied with pot still spice, dried fruit, toffee, and warm oak. The finish is long, smooth, and warming with persistent coffee and vanilla.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Midleton Very Rare?

Ireland’s most prestigious annual whiskey release, produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork since 1984. Each vintage is a unique blend of exceptionally aged Irish pot still and grain whiskeys hand-selected by the Master Distiller. No two vintages are identical — the selection reflects the finest matured stocks available in that specific year.

What is Irish pot still whiskey?

A style unique to Ireland, produced in large copper pot stills from a mash of both malted and unmalted barley — the unmalted barley gives pot still whiskey a distinctive creamy, spicy, and oily texture found nowhere else in whiskey production. It is the defining character of Midleton Very Rare and the backbone of the Irish whiskey tradition.
