Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 23 Years Old 2013 100% Stitzel-Weller
Description
Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 23 Years Old — 2013 Vintage — 100% Stitzel-Weller is among the rarest and most historically significant bottlings in American whiskey. Distilled at the original Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville before its closure in 1992, this whiskey was laid down when the Van Winkle family was still operating the distillery they founded. After 23 years in barrel, this is Stitzel-Weller spirit in its most aged and concentrated form.
The distinction matters: Stitzel-Weller produced the Van Winkle wheated mashbill under Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle Sr.’s original philosophy from 1935 to 1972, and later under the Distillers Company until 1992 closure. Subsequent Van Winkle releases, including the current program at Buffalo Trace, draw on different distillate. A 100% Stitzel-Weller 23 Year is the endpoint of the original production lineage — exactly what Pappy collectors have sought since the late 1990s when the bourbon revival began driving demand for the family’s releases.
