Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon was introduced in 1984 by Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee at Buffalo Trace Distillery, making it the first commercially available single barrel bourbon in American history. The Green Label Special Reserve and the Japanese Import Red Label represent different expressions from the same single barrel program — each drawn from individually chosen barrels. The Japanese Import was developed specifically for the Japanese market, where Blanton's has a significant following, often carrying a different proof and flavor profile than the domestic expression. Each bottle features the iconic hand-detailed horse and jockey bottle stopper.
