Description

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Batch 10 — 127.3 proof, uncut, unfiltered. The tenth release in Buffalo Trace’s annual E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof program, bottled without dilution from the Buffalo Trace Distillery’s Taylor mashbill in honor of Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr., the father of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897.

E.H. Taylor, Jr. was instrumental in establishing the standards that define American bourbon today. His lobbying for the Bottled-in-Bond Act — which required single-distillery, single-season production, federally bonded warehouse aging, and bottling at exactly 100 proof — protected consumers from adulterated whiskey and defined quality in American spirits for the following century. The Barrel Proof expression bears his name as the most uncompromising format in the EHT lineup: no dilution, no filtration, every barrel’s character delivered intact.

Batch 10 at 127.3 proof sits below the Batch 8 (134.7) and above the more moderate proof batches in the series, representing one of the higher-proof EHT Barrel Proof releases without crossing into the upper-tier concentration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who was E.H. Taylor, Jr.?

Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr. (1830–1923) was a Kentucky bourbon distiller and politician who purchased and renovated the distillery that would become Buffalo Trace. He lobbied for and helped pass the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, which established the first federal quality standard for American spirits.

How does Batch 10 compare to other EHT Barrel Proof batches?

At 127.3 proof, Batch 10 is one of the lower-proof EHT Barrel Proof releases — Batch 8 (134.7) and Batch 7 (138.4) are the high-proof anchors of the series. Batch 10 is the most approachable proof among the current Wooden Cork EHT Barrel Proof collection.
