Hennessy X.O was the world's first cognac sold as Extra Old when founder Maurice Hennessy created it for his friends in 1870. The expression has remained Hennessy's benchmark XO since — a blend of over 100 eaux-de-vie from all four Cognac crus, with the youngest component aged at least ten years and older components running up to 30 years, blended to express seven successive tasting chapters: a sensory journey from woody and spicy opening notes through candied fruit, chocolate, and a long velvety finish. The NBA partnership has produced annual limited editions since 2019. The 2025 edition gift box adds collector presentation without changing the cognac inside.
