Description

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost & Rare Pittyvaich is the fourth in a series of limited editions crafted by Master Blender Jim Beveridge, centred on irreplaceable ghost whisky from the silent Pittyvaich Distillery which closed its doors in 1993 after only 18 years, beautifully balanced with the slight sweetness of honeycomb and soft wood from the ghost whiskies of Port Dundas and Carsebridge, and rare whiskies from Mannochmore, Auchroisk, Cragganmore, Strathmill, and Royal Lochnagar.

The Ghost & Rare series was created by Jim Beveridge to celebrate and preserve the irreplaceable spirit from Scotland’s silent distilleries within the framework of a Johnnie Walker Blue Label blend. Pittyvaich was built in 1974 as part of the then-Bell’s whisky portfolio in Dufftown, Speyside, and closed in 1993. Its remaining casks are finite. The resulting blend brings fresh apple gathering with Pittyvaich’s autumnal flavours, Port Dundas and Carsebridge’s gentle sweetness and soft wood, and dark fruit, berries, butterscotch, stewing orchard fruits, and cinnamon from the Highland and Speyside components.
